Masao studied intaglio printmaking in France and then returned to Japan to continue his artistic career. More than ten of his intaglio prints include flowers and (or) birds and eleven examples are shown below. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Masao used his imagination when drawing his flower and bird subjects so the identiity of the species depicted is not always clear. His picture compositions are also more fantasy than real.
